Safe Environment

Keeping our Children and Youth Safe

Keeping a safe environment for children, youth, and vulnerable adults in our parish is of primary importance.  All employees and any volunteers who work with children are required to complete a Safe Environment training and background check as part of requirements set forth by the Diocese of Manchester.

Need for Safe Environment

Abuse can happen anywhere and at anytime – no matter how young or old one is.  We have an important responsibility to reduce the possibility of abuse ever occurring here at Saint Raphael Parish.  In order to protect and safeguard children, youth and vulnerable adults within our parish, safe environment guidelines and policies are taken seriously.  New staff members and volunteers must complete an application form, background checks for all states in which you have resided during the past 5 years, abuse awareness training, and read and acknowledge the Diocese of Manchester Code and Policy.  Every four years, all employees and volunteers actively working with children must complete a background check.

Reporting Abuse

If you know or suspect abuse or neglect of a minor (a person under 18), you must report it to the NH Division for Children, Youth and Families at 1-800-894-5533 or 603-271-6556.

As an employee or volunteer in the Catholic Church in New Hampshire, in addition to reporting to DCYF,
if you know of or suspect sexual abuse of a minor by Church personnel you must also report it to:

– Local law enforcement and the Delegate for Ministerial Conduct if the abuse involves a minor.
– Delegate for Ministerial Conduct if abuse involves a person who is no longer a minor

Delegate for Ministerial Conduct: 603-699-3100.
